Pearl’s Bathroom Remodel

It has been five months of working on this bathroom. We are doing all the work ourselves, so the process has been slow. My husband Matt works a full-time job during the day, and at night he has been working on this bathroom. From complete demolition to building a custom vanity he has done it all! When he doesn’t know how to do something he researches until he has it figured out. YouTube is great for this kind of learning and research. No matter what the topic…there is always someone on YouTube that will walk you through teaching exactly what you are trying to learn.
We made the decision to remodel this bathroom for two reasons. The first reason was the bathroom vanity was small, had no storage and was not an efficient use of the space. The space where the vanity was located is a unique shape and only a custom vanity would work.

As you can see in the picture above and below, we had to buy a rolling cart for storage. There was plenty of space on either side of this vanity that was not being used.

The second issue with this bathroom was in the shower. We had a shower / tub insert that worked well enough, but we had enough space to turn it into a large walk-in shower.

This back wall of the shower backs up to a large closet. We did not need this closet space, so we decided to break through the wall and turn that closet space into shower space.

By removing this wall, we gained about three feet of space for the bathroom. This space will no longer feel tight and cramped.

Once we took the closet wall out the rest of the project flowed smoothly.
